Embracing Marsha P. Johnson’s Legacy

Marsha P. Johnson’s indomitable spirit and tireless advocacy continue to inspire us at Muse Health. Born in 1945 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, she bravely confronted adversity from a young age, later finding refuge and freedom in New York City, where she embraced her true self as Marsha P. Johnson. A pivotal figure in the LGBTQ+ rights movement, Johnson’s pivotal role in the Stonewall Riots of 1969 and co-founding of Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries (STAR) with Sylvia Rivera underscore her unwavering commitment to justice and equality.

Despite facing personal challenges, including mental health battles and HIV/AIDS, Johnson remained a steadfast voice against discrimination, leaving an enduring legacy that transcends generations. Muse Health honors her legacy by championing equitable healthcare access for all, embodying her spirit of courage and compassion.

Happy Pride from Muse Health.
