The Impact of Gen AI on people, stakeholders, and the

Community

What are the community-wide implications of Gen AI? As changes are being made at a functional level to make Gen AI enablement possible, Muse Health™ ensures that communities that have not traditionally been contemplated in strategies aren’t further left out of long term planning.  Leaving these communities out could further accelerate the existing gaps caused by algorithmic bias. Conversely preparing for this inclusion more broadly could fundamentally improve outcomes across the enterprise and in the community.

People should be at the center of all innovation

In many ways Muse Health’s Gen AI applications are a catalyst for culture change. Our platform applications were designed to create member improvement and more organizational transparency, connectivity and sustainability. In partnership with TeraCrunch one Gen AI application allows members to ask questions about benefits, coverage, and other topics, and then the tool draws from our partner’s entire collection of intellectual property to come up with answers that can guide members to the most relevant experts and data in a culturally concordant manner.
Members that are better informed and more connected increase their preventative care participation, improve their health and reduce their claims. Historically, the biggest obstacle to their digital success was a culture that was averse to risk and experimentation because members felt the program was not designed with the person in mind.

THE INFLUENCE OF AI IN HEALTHPLACE

Muse Health™ and our partners believe that Gen AI has the potential to address the inequitable access to care that has historically impeded Black Americans from leading healthy, long lives. Twenty-six percent of Black Americans do not have a stable healthcare provider. According to a 2021 study from the University of Southern California, half of the 15 million Americans who live in pharmacy deserts are Black or Latino. According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, Black patients fared worse than White patients across 75 percent of health measures (including life expectancy, chronic diseases, cancer incidence, and mortality). Gen AI may offer an intervention in some of these scenarios.

Five ways the healthplace can benefit from Gen AI

Muse Health™ is convinced that Gen AI holds immense potential in enhancing early interventions, such as drafting personalized summaries and post-visit action plans in simple language for both providers and patients. If integrated into the care of all Black pregnant individuals, this technology could significantly reduce preterm births among Black babies.

Muse Health™ is of the opinion that employing Gen AI in supportive applications can contribute to achieving the following healthcare goals:

1. Utilizing electronic medical records to address unmet medical needs by expediting and synthesizing patient histories, thereby improving clinic decision-making and facilitating necessary care provision.

2. Enhancing patient adherence to treatment protocols by analyzing patient data and predicting potential lapses in medication adherence, allowing healthcare providers to intervene effectively with reminders and personalized dosing instructions.

3. Improving the detection of adverse-event reports through natural-language summarization, thereby enhancing vigilance surrounding medication use, particularly with specific patient communities.

4. Providing personalized assistance to patients through on-demand virtual healthcare professionals, such as physicians or pharmacists, equipped with comprehensive patient data and medical history.

5. Predicting and delivering tailored content through preferred communication channels and technologies, leveraging AI to understand individual patient preferences and optimize outreach efforts for better information dissemination and patient support.
